The Chief Accountant is a key role responsible for managing our day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring full compliance with Vietnam’s Law on Accounting for VIETNAM OUTDOORS (tax code: 0315040535). While operational in focus, this position carries the legal title and responsibilities of Chief Accountant, including statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial record integrity.

This role requires strong attention to detail, deep knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with management and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting System & Database Management

  • Lead migration and setup of MISA/Amis accounting system.

  • Verify and input opening balances for 2025, ensuring reconciliation with legacy data (2018–2024).

  • Maintain and secure both digital and hardcopy archives of accounting documents for all fiscal years.

  • Create and maintain a centralized accounting database and internal reports framework.

2. Financial Reporting & Internal Control

  • Prepare internal P&L distinguishing between deductible and non-deductible expenses to reflect real company performance.

  • Develop monthly and quarterly management reports to support decision-making.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, AR/AP, and cash balances accurately.

  • Implement internal accounting procedures and documentation standards.

3. Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and file VAT, PIT, and CIT reports in accordance with Vietnamese law.

  • Anticipate potential tax inspection issues; maintain compliant evidence for all deductible expenses.

  • Ensure timely settlement of statutory obligations (tax, insurance, payroll).

  • Advise management on legal and financial exposure related to non-deductible or non-compliant costs.

4. Budgeting & Cash Flow

  • Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts in coordination with HR/Admin and Operations.

  • Support budget planning, variance analysis, and reporting on actual versus projected performance.

  • Strengthen controls on contract payments and cost allocation.

5. Audit & Risk Management

  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities.

  • Prepare documentation for inspections and advise on practical resolutions for discrepancies.

  • Identify procedural weaknesses, propose corrective actions, and ensure traceable approval flows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.

  • Chief Accountant Certificate (or eligible to obtain).

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant role.

  • Proficiency in VAS, MISA/Amis, and Microsoft 365.

  • Proven experience in system setup, database migration, and internal reporting.

  • Deep understanding of Vietnamese tax regulations and practical inspection procedures.

  • Strong analytical ability and integrity in handling confidential data.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Preferred

  • Experience with SMEs or organizations transitioning from manual to software-based accounting.

  • Familiarity with outdoor education, events, or service-based industries.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish internal control systems and reporting frameworks.
